Best of Breed (BOB) & BEST OF GROUP FCI II (BOG) !!!
When I wrote about a successful start of the new season a couple of weeks ago, I had no idea what was waiting for us in Prague Top Hotel at All Breeds Champion of Champions 2010 show.
This year there were 251 dogs entered across all Groups including FCI-non-approved breeds. The judging started at 10 am with the first round, where the Best of Breed dogs were selected who were so qualified to compete in FCI Groups for Best of Group. The Group Winners then qualified for the evening finals for Best in Show or Champion of Champions.
Because Zar was the only participating dog in his breed and also the only schnauzer in the show, he qualified for Group finals automatically.
Zar`s Group, FCI Group II, was the biggest one with 21 qualified Best of Breed representatives. The first five dogs in each Group was awarded. The judge of our Group was Ing. Jaroslav Matyas from Slovakia. He inspected every dog very carefully in a stand, examined their body and coat and let them run fort and back and in a circle. We were very anxious as Zar was together with a German Pinsher and a Boxer the smallest breed in the Group and somehow we felt we were getting lost among all the huge moloss breeds.
So, what a surprise when the judge chose us among top five ! Then, the judging continued and again, each of the five dogs was individually examined both in stand and in movement. The host of the evening Ing. Brychtova then announced placements in an ascending order from 5th place.
I held my breath when we stayed in the ring alone with a beautiful Newfoundland dog... and then we won the Group !!! We didn`t place in the evening final but we totally enjoyed the whole day and atmosphere.
During the day there was a programme between the judging that included examples of dog training and presentation of some of the Czech national dog breeds.
I would like to thank the judge ing. Matyas for appreciating Zar`s qualities and selecting him as Best of Group, and also to our Zar for being composed the whole day and showing off as an absolute professional. We believe that this is a great success not only for Zar but also for the whole schnauzer breed.

We went once again for a show trip to Slovakia. We met a number of our good friends that we hadn`t seen for a long time and Zar celebrated his 8th Birthday with a new title :-) .
